December
Sure glad I got to drop in at your December breakfast! Was so good to see those who were there, and Lois on a "drive-by" in the parking lot. Don't forget that bread recipe, Kathy! And i will make a copy of the dill one. Happy New Year everyone! Oh those New Year's resolutions ...and back on track!

Thinking foundly of summer wellness
I have not been eating as clean as I should. Bad habits die hard. My computer skills are not up to par to follow Blogs as I should. My sister and I really enjoyed this summers group.
She went back to Flordia early this year.
I mean to get back to THE CENTER again soon for a retreat or something.
The creative part of me needs to be expressed more often, that I learned for sure.
Hope all is well .
Good health to all,
Pat

You made it!
Sharon! You're on! Good for you! Okay, now just a couple of "parties" not heard from. We need to get some good ideas out here. Some help to...yes, lose those couple pounds before the winter holidays! I have a little article on some yoga moves to help you not be so hungry - if I can only find it now!

Palmer House dessert
Hi all--I too really enjoyed seeing you all at the breakfast. You are good inspiration for me. I'm afraid that life has been busy, which means I put my own self-care on the back burner. I know I have to get my act together and take care of my body. Perhaps tomorrow will be the day! Today I was not good, but for once have no regrets, because I ate possibly the best tasting dessert of my whole life--a caramel apple dessert that melted in my mouth. On a high from seeing Jersey Boys, sitting there in the elegance of the Palmer House with its Cistene Chapel-like ceilings and ornate columns, eating that wonderful dessert, I was in heaven. That kind of splurging is worth it. Fritoes are not! Love, Lois

I really like...
I had a great time too! I went home and told my family: "I really like those ladies!" I really do enjoy your company. We seem quite different from each other in so many ways, yet so similar in others. Our mix seems to work really well. I enjoy your strength, your wisdom, and your kindness.

I had a wonderful breakfast yesterday and finished it this morning - love leftovers! And I didn't need to clean the kitchen afterwards!
So much catching up to do and it's only a month since we met at the Farm! Those summer mornings were so special - I do love that time of year - but MiMi's is very nice and I know I'm gonna really appreciate it come November!
We have officially finished the tuck-pointing - now to put the house back together. As some of you know - Larry (and I) kept bees for about 25 years and then quit about 2 yrs. ago - lotsa work and no time - so we've finally started to get rid of a small mountain of equipment - sold some stuff this morning! The next phase of this remodel is to fix the beam in the attic and for that we need to clean it out - and that means the bee stuff and lots of my canning jars. If anyone is interested.....I'm giving the jars to a good home?...Anyone?
Well, my new goal is a weight loss of 20 #'s by Christmas - I'm really hoping that will help my snoring as I so don't want to medicate and I like sleeping with my husband! So here I go - and all encouragement is appreciated! I was good yesterday - really wanted some popcorn in the evening but decided I wasn't so much hungry as tired so went to bed early. So far, so good today.
When I read back on this, I'm struck with all the !!!'s I know it's a sign of something bad but I do tend to talk (and think) in !!!!'s. I'll try to do better.
eBay is improving - but I'm still looking for more sales - wish the economy would come up - and don't we all?
Have a great week - and here's hoping we can all get on the blog soon.

yesterday's breakfast
Sure glad I got to stop by. I enjoyed seeing you all again. I am now again reminded to pay attention to what I am eating. Well, I did need some protein so had those eggs, and the bacon came along with it, (I do enjoy Mimis bacon), but no bread, and the fresh fruit was refreshing! Danielle always enjoys being a part of the ladies' groups. A special morning!

Now I get it - Green and Growing
Thanks Kathy! Now I get it. You can add a new post or you can comment on someone else's post. When I read the blog for the first time, I never even noticed the comments section at the bottom of each person's entry. Green and Growing ~ Live and Learn! Green and growing is a phase learned from a former boss in the 80's based on some author's ideas. It's an idea that has really stuck with me. You are all wonderful ladies and have helped me grow all summer.

And another one!
So I looked at the blog and couldn't find my epistle that I've been laboring over for lo, these many minutes and figured out that you have to read the comments on Eileen's last post to find it - can you tell I'm a tensy bit punchy? Anyhoo - I'll get this down eventually - I thimk!

My mistake
I'm still getting the hang of this blogging stuff - didn't see that I could write an actual new post til I sent the comment - does it make a difference?
And Lois, I found the pencil! Didn't see one on the comment site!

Weekend Goal
My goal this weekend is portion control. I'm feeling so good, maybe even exercise. I'll let you know how I do. Now that I've joined the blog, I feel connected to you all again. I'll probably talk more here than I did when we met! I'm inspired to post regularly. We'll see if the responsibilities of daily life take me away or if I make this time a priority. As you can see, I'm already talking myself into blogging being a priority.
Take care of yourselves,

Missing You
School's back in full swing so I've been living and breathing th0se responsibilities. The good news is that I haven't gained any weight with the stress. I haven't been good ~ but I haven't been bad. I have to try to at least write down what I eat. I'm still thinking more about my choices or "Can I choose something else instead of these delicious oatmeal chocolate chip cookie bars I made?" Oatmeal is healthy - right?
I wanted to let you know that my daughters enjoyed (survived) their trip to the Michigan Dunes on their bikes - including the full 200 miles round trip experience, the rain, and the tornado warnings. My husband and I don't know where these girls could have gotten the idea that a trip like this would be fun. The good news is that we've raised strong, independent women.
I'm new to blogging and am delighted to reconnect with you. Because I've been so busy, I didn't realize how much I've missed our weekly support. Jane, you're an inspiration. Thanks for sharing your 2 pound loss. It inspires me to focus on good choices for tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you all on the 12th.

The right start!
Well, I start out almost every day right anyway. My bowl (soup size) of cereal with fresh frozen blueberries from the Farmers' Market on top. I will miss that fresh fruit. Think I better see just what they still have left and freeze some more. Stock up, like a squirrel. Okay...now to work on lunch and dinner!

Had my cake and ate it all!
Well, yesterday was the "animals birthday party" at The Farm. Danielle, Dan and I went with our birthday presents for the animals and had a lovely piece of birthday cake! Couldn't disappoint the animals, right? Then it was Rich's birthday, so had to bake my special birthday cupcakes. I am not a sweet eater, but always have to have one of those. I did only have a half, but with a scoop of ice cream! Back on track today! I must start writing down what I eat again, as that works best for me. If I don't write it, it just slides right down and I don't think about it any more. I do still have to make up a sign with those "questions" on it, like Jane did. Oh, and I have this old drawing that I did in a drawing class years ago, of a Renoir-type lady. Very "rounded". I always want to put a copy of her on my refrigerator!

correcting our goofs
I just found out what the little pencil after my own posts means---it means that I can go back and edit it. I had two typos, clicked the pencils, corrected them, and now my post about walking is all correct. I keep learning! I presume that there are little pencil icons after your posts that don't show up on my page, meaning we can only edit our own.
walking invite
I saw Joan and Kathy at the farm yesterday. They are working, working, working on the rummmage sale--and walking in the mornings----I'm planning on joining them Monday at 7:30 at the farm---anyone else interested?

Bring our own salads
Wow---this is a first for me too. I'm a virgin blogger. Saw "Julie, Julia" last week and that did help me understand blogs a little, plus it was a great movie. I've had a vacation since camp, and since I saw you all last--Rich and I went to Saugatuck for a few days. So I'm well rested, got lots of exercise, and ate okay--not great, but okay. And I've been cooking a lot of vegetables. This is such great tasting tomato time! The camp garden is producing tons now that camp is over!
By the way, the day after our breakfast last week, a microburst hit the farm and broke off an enormous limb from the tree by the Anderson Center porch, plus beheaded about 8 huge pine trees in what we call "the pines" on the north end of the farm, and ruined almost all of that corn that was so pretty along the side of the Anderson Center, plus badly dented up two of the camp canoes that went flying through the air. It was the most serious storm to hit the farm in years.
If this rain ever stops, let's walk! And put Sept 12 on your calendar---it's the annual barn dance, and it's fun. Only $5 per person to enter. Line dancing, kareoke, hayrides, bonfire, etc. --Plus food for sale, but not very healthy types: hot dogs, nachos, homemade salsa, popcorn, rootbeer -- But we could bring our own salads, and just enjoy the evening! Miss you all. Love, Lois

Post carpet layers...
Good Morning, everyone!
I'm sorry I'm so late with this - blogging is new to me and I've been here at the Farm, working on the rummage sale so I do have a bit of an excuse...
I really missed our Tuesday morning - I hate to see summer end and missing all of you brought it's ending into reality - fall is here and winter will be right around the corner.
How are you all doing? I met Joan here Monday morning and we gabbed and walked and had a great time - but no walking yesterday as the rain had started - and it's a lovely soft rain right now but I'm hoping we'll be able to go tomorrow.
I'm pretty tired - we did start the tuck-pointing on our house last weekend - they ground out about 3/4 inch of the mortar and the house looked like an excavation at Pompei - my brick red house was beige - what a mess! (My poor dog Missy is like a dust-mop - you really don't want to pet her, she's so gritty but she needs some reassurance with all the chaos so she pesters you unmercifully)
And Larry is in total obsessive mode - he's working harder than the people we hired - hope he lives through this remodel....This weekend they apply the new mortar - if the rain will allow - then next week-end they finish the job.
Our house-guests moved out Monday - Heather was finding the early morning commute to Addison to be a real pain - our two dogs really miss Sydney - and so do I - she is a real live wire and actually had Missy playing (Sunny is too old and dignified for that). I'm ready to start taking the kitchen apart to begin demolition but my energy has been sapped with the rummage sale - it's the "Year of the Toy" and toys have been my responsibility so I've got some work to do....
And our eBay room looks like a cyclone touched down - we are finding treasures and getting them up for sale but there's lots to do...
And so my concentration on eating well has been problematic at best - my hope is that some weight will go with all the activity but for right now, survival is pretty much my goal and Pop's is pretty quick and horribly good and , of course, not too healthy...
So that's my world right now - how 'bout you?
Have a great day and come out to see us if you get a chance - the barn is open from 9:00 to 4:00ish and you can always bring some stuff that cluttering up your life and needs a new home....

how exciting, my first blog message. Thanks April for setting it up. Good news to report: despite house guests for five days, I lost an additional two pounds. Surely felt good about that, especially since there was a lot of stress connected with the visit. Thinking of you all and wishing you the best. Love, JaneA
